A Sailor's Prayer

A Sailor's Prayer

Eternal Lord God,
who alone spreads out the heavens and rules the raging of the sea,
we commend to Your loving care Your servant,
Senior Chief Danny M. Ramirez.
Grant him peace beyond the horizon,
where the waters are calm and the winds are gentle.
As he has sailed through the storms and tides of this life,
receive him now into Your eternal harbor of rest.
Watch over those he leaves behind,
his family, his shipmates, and all who loved him.
Steady their hearts as You steadied his,
and guide them with Your light through the darkest nights.
May his service, honor and sacrifice
never be forgotten,
and may his memory be carried like a steady compass
in the lives of those who remain.
Until we meet again on that distant shore,
grant him fair winds and following seas.
Amen.
